There are some quirky and delightful chicken blogs out there, and reading them is a great way to gain insight on chicken keeping. Here are a few of my personal favorites:
http://www.radiosandysprings.com/showpages/backyardpoultry.php Join Andy Schneider, the "Chicken Whisperer," in his new radio show on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. Eastern! You may also find Andy's blog here http://atlantachickenwhisperer.blogspot.com/, and on Twitter here http://twitter.com/backyardpoultry .
http://suzannemcminn.com/blog/ Ever think about leaving the corporate world and moving to the serene countryside to enjoy the benefits of farm life? Suzanne McMinn did just that: she packed her kids in the car and moved to a very rural part of West Virginia to rediscover her roots . . . and in the process, they all discovered so much more. Share Suzanne's adventures ~ including her current project of raising chicks in her blog entitled Chickens in the Road. (This is one of the most beautifully-designed blogs you will see. Guaranteed!)
Dirt by Amy Stewart is a lovely blog by a talented artist and suburban chicken owner. Enjoy her beautiful paintings and check out the archives detailing her adventures with four hatchling chicks.
http://www.hencam.com/blog.htm Terry Golson is a writer and chicken lover in Massachusetts. She travels the country spreading the good word about chickens and delicious home-grown eggs. Be sure to check out her hen bios and web cam!
http://www.cottagesmallholder.com/?cat=12 One of my very favorite blogs, this UK jewel is one of my inspirations. I want to live in a 16th-century English cottage too!!! I could place the Cottage Smallholder in many categories, as the food and miscellaneous writings cover a wide range of interesting and homey topics. Susan's journey toward self-sufficiency is an inspiration to us all.
http://poultrybookstore.blogspot.com/ The Poultry Bookstore Blog is written by Christine Heinrichs from the Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities. She features plenty of news and updates from the poultry world, and there is a lot of good breed information in these pages as well.
http://www.roosterhillfarm.com/journal/ Rooster Hill Farm has a nice blog coming to us live from new York State. There is plenty of farm fun here, and I check out the photos and weather information here every time I want to be grateful I no longer live in the icy north.
http://myurbanchickens.blogspot.com/ Urban Chickens recounts the adventures of a professional couple in Redwood City, CA who took the plunge into "urban farm life" with a couple of Barred Plymouth Rock hens. They are great examples of the success of city chicken flocks!
http://farmchronicles.wordpress.com/ The Farm Chronicles of Blessed Acres is a nice, Christian, family-oriented blog from my neck of the woods here in Tennessee. Along with some chicken-related posts, they also feature plenty of kid-friendly news and updates about their farm family. The animal adventures are a hoot!
http://beaniethechicken.blogspot.com/ If you're in the right mood you might enjoy Beanie the Chicken's kooky blog. Beanie is a very talented little chicken, and plays some lovely piano music.
